A brief history of Basketball

Dr. James Naismith is known as the inventor of the game basketball. He was born in Ramsay township Canada in the year 1861. He got the concept of the play basketball game from Naismith's school days, where he used to play duck-on-a-rock. After some years, in 1891 Naismith moved on to YMCA Training School in Massachusetts, and there the basketball game was born in order to find out a game which the students can play even in the winter season. The first play basketball game was played with two peach baskets as hoops and with a soccer ball. The basketball game is adopted by a number of US college students between 1893 and 1895. Today, it is a popular game of the young people as well as a popular part of the Olympics games.
